Thanks again for the replies. Just going to take another pic.

The motorised valve is above the pump and the arrow on the side of the pump, is pointing upwards....bit confusing though because the labels on the pump (as in the photo) are upside down!

Looks like its been converted to a sealed system.
Check the cap is loose on the adjacent AAV.

Not a sealed system, he said the header tank was warm and bubbling so I'm guessing there's a combined feed and vent somewhere....... But where, I don't know.

It is pumping up.
You can tell from the curve on the tapping at the top.

Tamz correct me if I'm wrong, I know the body of the pump is the right way up, but has the head been fitted upside down?
Without me going out to the van right now and checking a pump I not 100% sure. Just maybe the pump head was changed only.

The orientation of the head is immaterial. Generally it is better to turn it so the cable hangs down but hardly anyone does.

Just keep it set to speed 1. There is no quicker way to kill your system than allow it to pump over.
The old pump may have been weaker or the impeller slipping. There may be a blockage on the feed killing the neutral point.
Get it checked.
