Exactly kris ! 90% of the time in winter you're going to someone's house because they've got an issue with the heating anyway , another dumba$$ idea coming before the election only 60 more days to go of them to go

You can imagine the situation....... Doctor goes into a home to see an old guy who's ill. "I think it's to cold for your health, I'll call a plumber for a second opinion as they are the only group of people with the ability to tell a house is cold"

This BBC report really gets on my wick! Its rubbish journalism at its worse.

The report from NICE is a thorough, well researched and sensible piece of work, which centres on improving council and health services and making them do more "joined up thinking" about the problems of elderly people in cold housing.

The report was welcomed by the old peoples charity "AGE UK".

In a longish document, there is one sentence which encourages local authorities to have a single point of contact so that tradesmen,meter readers and others who call at old peoples houses would have a number to call if they thought someone was at risk.

All the rest of the piece is directed at various professionals in social and healthcare.

But an idle reporter at the BBC can get a cheap headline out of completely misrepresenting the facts, and focussing on one sentence. What a waste of my licence fee.

Its easy, just employ a bit of technology. When I was in Canada, all the incoming services had electronic meters, no meter readers just electronic metering. Surely usage can be monitored and reduced usage could be investigated?
