Hello there,im new to this forum so i hope im doing things right..ok,well....my mams a pensioner and she has a slightly dated bathroom suite but cant afford to fit a new one so i need to fix this for her and i hope you guys can help?

The main problem is with the toilet the flushing is now almost not do-able by my mam as it takes a strong arm to do it so i usualy do it when i can but the fault is that it fills the cistern ok then when i go to flush it i have to grip the handle and in fast pumps i have to force flush the handle up then down then up then down several times really fast then i hold it down after about 6 or 7 pumps, until the water is changed and the flush is done and finished.

Then next time it requires the full pumping action again which my mam really struggles with.So if anyone knows of a remedy please let us know as soon as possible so we can get it sorted....thankyou guys..

The toilet is around 15 years old, with porcelain outer and plastic parts inside,i think it is syphon fed with the flush handle at the top right corner as you look towards the loo, unfortunately i have no pics but i might be able to take some if vitaly needed...thanks again.Rob Hyde...

Sounds like the diaphragm has split on the syphon, not a big job and prob take no more then an hour to sort.

or you could make life easy for her get someone to fit fluidmaster flush valve and fill valve then she only has to push a button job done

Thanks for speedy response guys....Yes the cistern does sit just above the pan like an old traditional type...Also could you give me a rough idea how much the fluidmaster flush valve and fill valves are to buy? and how much roughly fitted?...

.Also could i possibly get a description from somewhere on how to repair the diaghram on the syphon?i am quite handy myself just ive never had much to do with the internal parts of these toilets but i would gladly do the job if i had some directions....saving my mam a fortune hopefully...if its not too complicated that is...

What are you suggesting that we charge a fortune to carry out simple jobs ????? only joking.
Is there a pipe between the bottom of the cistern & the back of the WC pan (we call that a low level WC) or is it close coupled cistern sits on the pan directly with no pipe visible ? If close coupled I would get someone in un-less you are lucky enough to have a special type of siphon fitted (need pic) as CC cisterns are fraught with problems if you do not know what you are doing.

Siphons are so cheap it's hardly worth repairing them
