doing a load of cast iron atm so need some decent blades going through 1 to 2 per cut

Can't you use a 9" angle grinder?
I doubt those recip saw blades are cheap

sorry should have said cant get it in (pipe ontop of a pipe etc) have about an inch between

works out about £8 a blade but if they last longer and cuts faster, atm its taking me about 20-30 per cut

a nine inch grinder will not cut right through 4 inch cast with the safety gaurd fitted and only a fool would take it of???
way round it is to cut a window out so the grinder head goes in to cut the back, two horizontal cuts and then two vertical down each side
for cutting new stuff on the floor a cut of saw is the best makita make the best one and there not as dear as you think

If I'm just cutting a section out of 4" cast (to fit a tee or boss) I,ll use a 4" grinder with a 1mm blade in it and do the same as above
Wouldn't want to cut a lot of it with a 4" though, but if you haven't got room you're limited with your choices
