Powerflued gas fire

Hi went to a gazco room sealed gas fire. Looks like a standard stove flue goes into chimney breast then rises about 2.5m 90deg to a ceiling void (with a hatch). Selkirk twin wall by this point another 90deg outside to a power flue fan unit. all taped together.

It just doesn't seem right

Switch on wall to start fan and let gas to fire, when switched off fan off gas cuts off.


No instructions. No model number

Is the flue in the chimney breast classed as a flue in a void?

I have capped for now gonna speak to manafacs.

So the stove is balanced flue not conventional? If so then you were correct to condemn as fan unit can only be fitted to a conventional stove

Flues in void regs only applies to room sealed, fan flued appliances.

it is room sealed and has a fan, the fan is on the externall wall.

Never come across this before.

How's it getting fresh air if it's balanced flue? As the fan unit would cover both air intake and exhaust. Sounds like a bodge job

I think you will find it is one they powerflue fires and it is actually taking air from room and fan is drawing POC's out back.
But the taped up flue may need a look.

Is the gas interlocked to fan via APS?

Thanks. Got my head around it now. The power flue is installed correct with the gas shut off etc

Just i was convinced the fire was room sealed. Going back next week to take a look, if the fire is not room sealed then all good.
