buckley plumb

I am ok on most faults on boilers but hw issues on combis I struggle with at times . went to protherm 80ec - htg is fine but hw is barely warm -run tap and the boiler gives max burner pressure 15.4mb so gas is ok -no heat going down flow pipe or around the bypass pipe .clamped temp probes on flow and rtn to main heat exch and in hw mode got temp diff of 10 degrees but this could just be the heat transferring back down the rtn due to restriction. the boiler would run in hw mode giving barely warm water for about 2mins before clicking off then repeating the process.how can I bee 100% its a blocked plate or the diverter blocked or stuck internaly or a thermistor . did remove wires from thermistor and plug into another one I had on van but that was off another boiler make .its just hard in these times as we want to do what we can for the customer at a reasonable cost but paerts can spiral up and then customers don't want to pay.

Does boiler work ok on heating ? If it does then to me it will be. Lock age on the plate he , it also pile be termistor

So if heat is fine and boiler run as it should , gas ok , analyser ok then we need to look on the heating side ! On heating side we have he and thermistor , shear use of diverter valve and PCB
And when you call for hw and comes only look worm it could be
Termistor , plate heat exchanger
I am going to a Vaillant boiler that has similar issue with hw been not hot enough but boiler sends it to ch flow pipe

Check pin on diverter moves freely using long nose pliers and check motor operates in the correct manor whilst removed. Are you losing any heat to the primary circuit when hot water is being run. After this I would be lookin at plate to plate.

no loss on primary to htg. diverter head operating and pin moves freely may go back with seals and check plate

The head needs seals. Protherm sounds like could be microswitch not engaging fully or poor contact ? Is it in hw area ? Can u put on heating demand and trick div into sending across plate? Generally if plate blocked boiler overheats and kettles then prv blow off? Sounds more like demand issue to me?

drained down and fitted new plate he, and job done i also and toped up pressure in exp vessel , I also put some x 800 for customer so they wash there rads next weekend

went back today armed with seals and thermistor. it was the 10 degrees differential that was pointing me faway from the plate. decided to remove the plate and acid clean and re fitted and boiler hw ok now .
