Replacing Toilet flush valve

Hi
I'm trying to replace a bottom entry toilet flush valve - but having problems with tight access and in particular having problems loosening the bolt to get rid of the plastic that remains of the existing valve - see photo attached. I don't seem to have enough room to get spanner or wrenches in.
Any ideas much appreciated!

Who is the manufacturer of the inlet valve, can you take a photo from inside the cistern? Some valves can be replaced without removing the base piece.

If there's an easy means of turning the water off, other than the valve in the picture, you could undo the bottom compression fitting of that valve, as there looks slightly easier access down there.
Otherwise its gas pliers and basin wrench? or tools at an angle!

Thanks all for replying, much appreciated. Yes - old valve snapped off - I have a new Twyford valve ready to put in once I've got the old one completely out.

Ah, unfortunately the photo didn't show on my phone. They can be a nightmare to access, especially on new builds that box everything in.
