Morning

Does anyone know a good course for roofing. At the moment we use a roofer to do the roof slate when we do a vertical flue but I am changing jobs and will now need to do this myself. Obviously only need a course that covers this if one exists....

Cheers

It was covered in the C&G plumbing course but that was making your own using lead which is a very rare skill these days. Never done one in real life since college though.
If it was me I'd be asking fellow trades if I could shadow a couple with them, maybe - if your old roofer will also be losing out, pay him out of your pocket to show you how to do the first two or three.
Cutting a slate or two and fitting a flashing kit doesn't really need a course of its' own unless I'm underestimating the job.

Roofing esp. patching does not require any course it’s common sense. Most lead slates etc are pre formed off the shelf items. If you want to learn how to join lead (it was traditionally plumbers work)
Just go buy some different codes of lead and a dibber (dressing tool) and have a go it’s great fun.
I was taught properly so can do snow boxes, down pipes and make all the fancy acanthus leaf decorations but basically taught myself. Centralheatking

Thanks guys for the reply. It's not the lead work as said I buy these pre formed. Its the working on roofs. Ie what ladders to use and how to tie off etc. Just wondered if there was a course. Doesn't sound like there is.....
