Good Afternoon Martin I deal with matters concerning the Gas Safe Register brand and trademarks, and in that respect, your recent e-mail has been passed to me. It appears, from the information you provided, that the business are not currently Gas Safe Registered. In light of this information we will be writing to the business requesting that they take immediate steps to remove our registered trademarks from their business premises and any other advertising material. They will be advised that failure to do this will result in Gas Safe Register passing their details on to Nottingham City Council, Trading Standards for their consideration of a possible offence under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. Unfortunately, there is very little we can do about retailers selling gas fittings and appliances to ordinary members of the public, as currently there isn’t any legislation in place to prevent this. I should like to thank you however, for bringing this matter to our attention as unfortunately there are businesses that are using the Gas Safe Register trademarks illegally and it is only with the assistance of the general public and registered businesses, that we are able to take suitable action in pursuing these businesses.
