this has never happened to me before...

I was soldering 22mm pipes today....there was this one joint that i got to where the solder just wasn't being sucked in...just fell off...what did i do wrong here?
i always clean my pipes with steel wool....not enough flux?
 
either something wasnt clean enough, water in the pipe or you over heated the joint
 
Certainly happens if the flame tarnishes the edge of copper fitting and pipe. If you had used flux as you soldered, then it would all stay clean and solder will flow and coat the copper
