Customer wants to make some changes, drawing below is of one part of house. The utility and kitchen with bedroom and bathroom above is a barn conversion, garage and remainder of house which is to the right was added when the barn conversion was done. It is not to scale but to give an idea the garage holds at least 3 cars with plenty of elbow room.
Problem one, the owners want to move the utility area from its current location to the location indicated, there is no waste in the new location. I can only think of 2 solutions, one is to put in new underground waste pipe from back of new utility area, go around garage and across parking area to pick up main waste pipe from house to septic tank. The tank is about 30 meters from the house and the ground slopes down from the house to the septic tank. Second option is a sanivite, run the pipe up the wall then through into old utility area and around and down to join into the old utility waste. The pipe could be easily boxed in. Any thoughts or other ideas?
Problem two, the owners would like a water softener sited where the asterisk is. I would need to maintain a fresh water supply at the kitchen tap so a new pipe would have to be routed to the kitchen tap from the rising main. Problem is I cannot find where the kitchen supply comes from, there does not appear to be any boxed in sections around the kitchen sink units where the pipes drop down from above. The pipes are all behind the units so I cannot see where they go. Where the rising main comes up it goes straight up the wall to under the floor of the bedroom above and then to the rest of the house, it is boxed in but the boxed in section is quite large for one pipe. It is possible that a hot pipe runs back down this boxed section and then along with a cold spur it runs under the floor to the kitchen sink. There is a gas pipe near this location that runs under the floor to the cooker. If they do run under the floor from here then it will not be a problem, but if everything is upstairs then it involves a lot more disruption. Any ideas would be appreciated.
