Well I went to fix an lpg gas leak today, ended up capping off a section of leaking pipe work(feeding a hob); which was buried under the floor of the property.
Just leaving the customer/tosser with his boiler working. After liaising with the customer we decided on running a new pipe in the loft and dropping it down the kitchen wall to feed the hob (its a bungalow)
I said to him I thought the existing pipework looks undersized & that I would double check it whilst I was preparing him a price. So I measured it all up and took note of all the fittings etc etc.
Well It turns out the pipework was undersized with the hob connected as well, but was okay with just the boiler connected.
Anyway rung him up and said to him his pipe work is undersized and would need upgrading; if he wanted his hob reconnecting.
He ****ing flipped!! 🙂
Apparently because hes a charter surveyor he knows everything so heres some chestnuts you guys might not have known:
"The gas regulations don't apply to existing installations"
"The gas regulations don't apply to repair work"
"The gas regulations only apply to newly installed pipework not modifications"
"The Gas regulations are like the water regulations" [???!!!!]
"The Installation will not be AT RISK if the pipework is undersized"
And then he hangs up on me.
Bet he wont pay me for my time already spent either 🙁
