Strange Noises from boiler

View the thread, titled "Strange Noises from boiler" which is posted in Boiler Advice Forum on UK Plumbers Forums.

Hiya,

I have an Ideal Classic FF230 system boiler which has started making noises that it hasn't done previously and was hoping that someone would be able to tell me if I should get someone out to look at it please?

I will try to describe the noises the best I can, I have so far resisted turning the heating on so at the moment its hot water only!

-When the boiler first comes on, you hear what sounds like a brief rush of water and then a brief hissing noise that sounds like when you pour hot water onto a very hot surface, this literally lasts for a few seconds.

-When the boiler is running, there is sometimes a very loud buzzing/rattling from the top of the boiler, and can be made to go away by banging the top of the boiler.

Thank you in advance!

Carl.

Sounds like it needs a service. Could be several things. Tell your service engineer what is happening before he turns up so he can bring the kit he needs.

Hi, thanks for your reply, it was only serviced in June so shouldn't need to be done again should it?
