Hi guys I'm new to the forum, I wanted to share something I found today on the above boiler. was called out as boiler would start when it felt like it and turn off when it felt like it too. The boiler was pretty dirty, never serviced, had a broken fan impeller, 2 of 3 fins remained. Anyway, was a bit rough... The only way I could get the boiler to fire was to call for heat and turn the control to the off position. Then it would fire for 2 minutes or so and shut off. Reset button never worked so same again - on / off at fused spur then call for heat and you guessed it... Would lock out at anywhere on the dial except after clicking into the off position then it fired! All was ok in terms of electrodes, detectors stats etc so the pcb bell rang, for the record it had already been replaced with new harness as data badge was hand written and the previous rgi had buckled the hell out of the control frame... So called potterton to check all readings and they were baffled - agreeing replacing pcb was way forward! But could not suggest what was wrong with it?

Anyone seen even this before?

id say its a problem with the ............. capacitor and the ............. resistor.

as for the boiler i have no idea 😉
