I am fitting a 22mm copper gas pipe through a cavity wall, sleeved in a piece of 28mm. I need to seal the inside, what is the correct stuff to use? I was thinking Boss gastite or Rocol gasseal as it is supposed to be "non setting mastic" Thanks

Fga setting compound, try plumb centre

Thought it had to be non setting? Flue jointing compound? Non flammable and flexible. Don't use plumbers mate with a bit of cement in it so it looks like FJC !!!

Denso putty used to be the daddy!

It's a non setting compound

Silicone has corrosive acetates and should not be used. FJC every time.

I believe this is only in confined spaces? I.e where the fumes cannot dissipate.

So under the normal conditions we work in which are ventilated the silicone doesn't react.

I will stand corrected if I am wrong.

I had thought of that but for some reason it's supposed to be non setting? Does it just mean remain flexible?

Silicone bonds to pipes and will tear when pipes move in and out as its only got abiut 3% movement Also much thinner seal?

If you came across a meter cupboard with this being used, what would you class it as ?

ar or ncs?

Gap between a pipe and a sleeve is quite confined. The standards require a non-setting compound, silicone sealant sets.
