Evening,
I am not a plumber but looking for some advice, the downstairs toilet in my house has recently started to drop the pan water level so low on flushing that it sucks air into the pan. I was aware that this could be caused by a blocked/fault vent so I replaced the automatic vent in the attic for a new full size one but the problem still persists. I have snaked the soil pipes and everything seems clear. It is a concealed cistern, that did develop a overflow problem about two on this ago which I adjusted the float to resolve.

Any further ideas/help appreciated.

Checked drain to manhole which is 2.5 meters away and all runs clear, upstairs toilet also clear. Are there any other possible causes. ?? Thanks

I have checked the manhole it seem clear, I do agree that it seem like a obvious blockage, but is there any way that the cistern isn't providing enough water to replenish the bowl quick enough? Thanks

I had one which was sucking every flush and fixed it by fitting an aav very close to it. I just used a strap on boss with a 40mm aav - I know it's not designed for that, but it did the job. 🙂

It's blocked in the stack ( assuming it's in a stack ) above the connection for the downstairs W.C

But if the open vent is blocked, or too far away, it will try to pull through the wc, resulting in trap loss (but as the op says, he has snaked the vent pipe & all is clear)

Finding this to be a problem where people are flushing wet wipes down the loo. They don't break down like loo paper and cause blockages.

Hooray for wet wipes, keeping my drain jetting business busy. Wish more people would use them!!

id bet you anything that this problem is caused by a toilet duck soap holder thingy thats flushed down the pan and holding all the looroll stuck to it in the pan connector, plunging it will solve the problem ................. for the first flush with loo roll in! id try plunging it , if it gets better but looroll still wont go down out comes the toilet, unless its a low or high level one thats quite easy to take the pan con off!
