Wish I was management. Then I wouldnt be driving all the way to newcastle tomorrow to do remedial work. i started with them in january. For the first few months it was great. plenty of work, paid on time and correctly every month, altho i heard that some people were having problems.
It went crap around may and i was missing about £700 from that months pay, but after passing on the details and refusing to go anywhere they got it sorted for the next months pay. and its been right ever since. there was one point where i went about 3 weeks without fuel money, but again they got it sorted once i made an issue of it and lately its been spot on every week.
a couple of weeks ago I was late getting my paperwork in and andy phoned me to make sure he had my mileage so i would get my fuel money. they genuinley seem to be trying to do things better. the hourly rate is still rubbish but the price works coming back and things are picking up.
I know marks still there but all the warmfront work is now being run from wakefield by Andy Dodds. things are going pretty well. the organisations better and im glad now that i stuck it out.
As for the plumbing work, i can only say what ive been told, but the lads still here are very critical of some,(not all ) of the guys who left. I may not know much about plumbing but even i can tell how bad some of it was while ive been doing electrical remedials. burn marks on carpets and skirting, pipes on the p**s, leaks, ect. Just really careless work. I went to one job where the lady couldnt close her inner back door because the rad pipes were in the way.
Im not saying everyone who left was like that and i know some really good lads who were treated really badly. but the fact remains that there were a lot of really poor workers here.
I know the plumbers had lots more problems than the sparks with parts missing, wrong stuff ordered ect, and they usually have that sorted before the spark gets anywhere near the job, but thats just warmfront. The whole schemes been like that since they started doing the surveys themselves and theres sod all the company can do about it.
Everyone knows that warmfront inspectors are a pain in the backside but surely if you are experienced with them you shouldnt get too many remedials.
The reason i come on thes forums is because i like to find out about the company i work for. im not stupid and i take everything the company and management say with a pinch of salt, but i also dont believe everything i read on these forums.
There are a couple of guys on the electrical forum and im reasonably sure i know who they are. ive been to their jobs, and they were shockingly bad, and yet these lads say its all the companies fault.
Today i went to check a job in coventry. heating and hot water controls wrong way round. there were 23 loose cables throughout the system, and the cables to the timer were just strung acroos the floor like temp leads.Tell me that guys a decent lad who deserves to be paid.
