Vaillant VRT392f fault thermostat controller

Our VRT 392F wire thermostat control is not working, it lights up and you can change Deutch to English but then you cannot do anything else. Water leaked into our circuit board on our boiler but we have had a new circuit board put in. I looked at the thermostat control, changed the batteries but still not working 🙁 I notice that some acid from the battery has leaked onto the circuit board. I am not very tech - if I buy a new thermostat wireless control will it work with the receiver I have in the boiler cupboard already. Sorry if I sound really daft.

Have you used good quality alkaline batteries? I think you’d have to buy another of the same/similar model, no other thermostat will link up with that receiver.
