I am in the process of installing a wet underfloor heating system (room by room). Initially I plan to run this from an oil fired aga, but eventually I will be installing an air source heat pump.

The 2 rooms that I am doing next get quite cold and currently only have electric heaters which will be removed. My concern is that when the aga is off (we only light it during the really cold months) the 2 rooms in questions will not have any heating.

I have seen a 2kW under sink water heater (from screwfix) and I was wondering if I could connect this in to the circuit and when the heater is on (and the aga is off) the aga circuit would be isolated and the electric heater circuit enabled. I would plan to use motorised valves so that as soon as the heater is switched on the valves are closed / opened at the same time. The heater has an external temperature control and thermal cut out.

I have done some calculations and I reckon there would be 14l of water in the pipework and the heater has a 10l tank. I have seen a recommendation for 23l / kW so I would be well within this.

Would this be acceptable? Are there any other options?

I will add that I am an engineer (Software & controls) so as long as this is acceptable solution I would be able to implement the control myself.

Thanks for reading and I appreciate your input!

No not at all acceptable. You are talking about using a instantaneous water heater to run a floor? Try switching 11kv with a 5v relay.

You need An electric boiler , not a water heater . U need to design backwards from your ashp to the underfloor.

What pipe size are you using for underfloor heating and what centres
Is your house very well insulated
What insulation you using in floor and what thickness

Where's the unlike /no thanks button?

so many things wrong with the concept. Trouble is if we tell you the problems you might try and engineer around them.
hopefully this is a wind up! If it isn't don't waste your money.

Not having pages of why it won't work.

UFH isn't just a matter of banging pipework in the floor and connecting them to a heat source.

Follow the good advice above.
