This is true, but that's because it's assumed we ALL have a jet pack, and therefore no badge required. You mean to say you DON'T have a jetpack? How weird!! 🙂

Had an interesting day.

First off, two blokes that work for me are off. Colin and Ben. Over the weekend, Ben slept with Colin's girlfriend, while Colin was away. Luckilly Colin is off as he's on a car rally, but he knows what's happened and isn't amused. Ben has evaporated, but I'm sure will surface.

Added to that, I've had hassles from a customer. I have hired a cherry picker to do his work. Booked in weeks ago but the last bloke who hired the cherry picker broke it...and everytime I call the hire company to ask when I'll get the machine, they tell me tomorrow. This has been going on two weeks. Makes me look like a numpty, but don't want to hire from someone else as more expensive, and it will take a couple of days. My machine might be here tommorow!!

Then today, I froze a system to cut in two radiators. Did the link and defrosted it, only to hear the sound we all dread. There was an open end, as someone hadn't sweated in the link further down the line and my fault for not checking it. (The room was full of junk, and I just assumed it had been done). Luckilly no harm done, but it did flood out into the basement we're converting. Luckilly still a building site, but bit of a clean up job.

Then as leaving work. Customer called, no hot water. A two and a half round trip for me, and it was just a high limit trip on the immersion stat. I changed the stat, as I don't want it to trip again.

I'm allready on my second glass of vino, and eyeing the cupboard where the whisky lives!!

If you managed to read through my rant, well done, have a beer on me!!

i always read the rant of someone else BECAUSE it is from someone else so it cant be me haha

Well Ben hasn't surfaced yet. Probably gone back to Bristol....so I'm a man down. Colin has told me if I had him back then he would leave (which is the last thing I would want as he's a mate and my right hand man). He's also said if he does bump into Ben then he's honour bound to do him a mischief.

(I'm not getting involved in that side of things at all!).

So I'm looking for a new lad, but it's not going to be easy. Ben was very practicle, but didn't mind if I put him on the spade to trench out soil runs, he would also quite happilly paint and decorate to a high standard. He was a basically a very basic all rounder, who was polite to the clients, had his own transport and was well presented.

I need to replace him but it won't be straight forward. I'm not going to take on some kid who doesn't know their bum from their elbow, but I don't want someone who's too skilled and will want too much money!

Shame as I liked Benjy.

It turns out he was having it off with anyone that stood still long enough! Dirty dog!! 🙂

While I don't condone what he did, it takes two to tango. And your mate Colin should realise his misses is just as bad.

I hope you get someone soon to help you out though. This I why I wouldn't like to have anyone working for me. I bet it's give you some right headaches and worries about up coming jobs etc. I hope you ge it sorted though mate, sooner rather than later.

By the sounds of it this Ben chap sounds like a decent worker so he probably won't find it hard finding another job if he never comes back to you.

Cheers. Yeah they're both good workers. Colin though is more valuable to me, so I'm glad it's him who's staying. Colin is no angel but it's a pride thing with men, and his has been dented.

It has caused me headaches and continues to do so. I've had grief from a client today who want his work started....I'm gonna start tomorrow and just figure it out as I go. Luckilly I've drafted in a mate of mine to help me. If I win the work I'm pricing, then I really will need more hands on deck, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
