Hello all engineers just a quick question to avoid another sort of leak or problem in the future.

What sort of fittings would you use to re install the shower valve ?

The customer told me that the previous plumber has used a kind of silicon / gum stuff to seal the fitting they had a massive leak which caused a big flut in the house

I am not a speedfit / push fit lover at all, I like old school plumbing with copper, pipes.

but what sort of ways or fittings or changes would you do to re connect and seal it without having a problem in the future ?

thanks for help guys

Sounds like he's use LSX or something to seal the threads.... Where was it leaking from, the male irons? If so which side?

PS...you need a new blade in your Multimaster...😀

is that the pic of the installation ?

you have two options

one rip out and start again (best option if you can)

Thank you you two for your help so far !

This picture is from the customer I received today I haven't been there yet going there tomorrow morning.

I cannot tell you exactly where it leaked from but according to the customer from the fittings itself.

I will need to speak to the customer first about re install the plastic to copper but it will cost them too much. She already moant about hourly rate charge.

Would you rather take male iron to copper or to push fit ?

I am going to take the male irons out and will use loctite later on. But do not like the grey push fittings.

i think they do not want me to re install everything but asking me about certificates and insurances etc 😉 so they are calmed down after receiving my documents and certificates.

They just do not want a cowboy that's what they said. To me it doesn't look really cowboy just quick and fast installation that's all.

Thank you for your help too.

Does lsx help at all ? Never used it and I'll never try using this stuff just wondering if it helps at all

...So the previous guy does that mess and does joints that leak and flood their home, - and they are going to check YOU out and YOUR insurance and proof of YOUR qualifications!
What a joke. Horse has bolted long ago with that one.

Ptfe tape is perfect for male threads if you do it right. But if the shower valve has only 2 or 3 threads then it is harder to seal.
Male fitting with a shoulder at end of threads give a good seal if they lock up against the valve body.
I would also use some V2 JetLube - it acts as a lubricant on male threads (more tape goes in threads) and also helps seal.
I would rip that all out and start again as it is only a few pipes.

I'd Be very careful if you have gave them your insurance details already, take pictures of everything before and after,

That's a good one I have got all on my email address so already backed up a little.

I really do not where leak was will find out tomorrow morning. But apparently some joints were leaking ... She wants me to re install and check with her together before I leave.

She also mentioned in case something will happen in the future she can hunt me down in case I've done something wrong.

A little weird to be behaviour isn't it. Or is that normal when you had a flut in your house and the previous plumber was apparently a cowboy ?

Do not think he was a real cowboy though.

Will see if she wants me to do all new as she already moant about the costs as she asked me about the hourly costs.
