I have a insurance job to try and rescue a poorly installed quad shower the customer wants to save the tiling if possible and has a few spare so fingers crossed it may work , the loss adjuster allowed em £1500 that will just about cover materials. Kop

When you you used your core drill to remove 60mm of the area of the shower former, can you enlighten me on how? I don't quite understand? Was the floor former 60mm thick?

Did the waste go into an external hopper?

This 2ill be the 1st time tiling a wetroom former (my own bathroom) and so wondering how to figure out the cuts. Any advice would be great. Templating with the tile cardboard box is my thoughts?

Thanks for replying Simon. You are always quick and always willing to help.

Top man.

Oh, just as a thought, have you ever made cupboards where you tiled the doors? I want to build a false wall to house the concealed cistern and will build it full height to ceiling. The top half being cupboards. What I want to do is tile doors but I want it to look like one piece so not putting trim around them. So silicone but how do you stop the silicone from adhering to the other door? Hope that makes sense to any one?

Floor was about 5" thick, wasnt going to take it all out. So red tape around core drill. The former was about 50mm but I wanted some room to play.

So drilling vertically into the concrete to the depth of the tape so a lot of holes.
Thanks for clearing this up. Hoping mine is a screed but will use this method if not

Back to a grant combi blue this morning. Serviced it 2 months ago, in a holiday cottage so not been used, no hot water.
Whilst servicing it there was a leaky hot water pump union. Stripped it down, cleaned and back together. But it has to have the plug pulled out to get the spanner on the pump union.
Didnt plug the pump back in.
Quick fix, but felt a right dick.

Started this bathroom today in a old cottage, got it stripped floor joists are bodge job need to strengthen it all and level it all before doing anything . Kop

Squeezed in a 3 day job into two due to resits

was only supposed to remove cylinder so the floor could be renewed due to it falling apart and move the port valve (3 port) and pump upstairs

ignore the existing wonky pipes 😀

Looks good kop.

Call tonight just before I took the granddaughter to all stars cricket.
I got your number off of one of your customers.
I have a firebird combi and its smoking.
I responded with, right.
Then to be told the he had changed the nozzle and cleaned the baffles.
I asked whether it was condensing or standard and who normally services it.
Oh I bought it second hand, fitted it myself but it wont work.
Do one! I replied. Not interested in sorting out your $hit.
But i need it to work.
Click.

I just cant be chewed with idiots like this.

Don't you just love people who think its acceptable to fiddle with oil burners on their own. Farmers are usually the worst. Someone I grew up with has an oil boiler, I offered my assistance several times and he chucked it back in my face. He told me one day oh I ran out of oil, to which I replied do you know how to bleed the system? His response was yes, I've done it myself and improved the efficiency by 15% 😂🤦🏻‍♂️.

Absolute s*** day today, all day for a effin immersion heater!!!!
Firstly the drain off wouldn’t open, then the gatevalve wouldn’t close, had other issues with leaks due to fittings, immersion wouldn’t budge, the tried to clear an airlock that turned out to be a faulty float valve. 😡😡😡😩😩😩

One of the times I wanted to give it all up 😒

Don't beat yourself up about it bud we all have them days if it's any consolation I had a rough day myself, needed to get the shower working for my client, grouted the bottom row of tile, started with a damaged wall trim , sourced a new one fitted sealed up,✓ glass was the next challenge 1000x1950x 8mm up a windy staircase hmmm 🥵🥵 roped the client in on this one got it sorted fitted support fixed✓, shower tray and glass siliconed up shower valve handles fitted and tested , on to the next job kitchen sink needs fitting taps a monstrous thing cold supplies for washing machine, dishwasher, outside tap hot and cold for the sink, new drainage sod it this can wait 6.15pm home time 😉 quick call to pick up payment for a job home by 7 pm 12 hour day getting to old for all this 🤣🤣. Kop

I'm like you H I love a little job I'd rather do them 10 of them rather than one big job I probably earn more if I'm honest , servicing can earn well and although brain numbingly boring it's totally necessary small faults get picked up and repaired 4 of them a days is £400 + . Kop
