I have a insurance job to try and rescue a poorly installed quad shower the customer wants to save the tiling if possible and has a few spare so fingers crossed it may work , the loss adjuster allowed em £1500 that will just about cover materials. Kop

Good morning all!

I've been working on the ads again and although some subscribed will see ads around the forum only for the next couple of days.

You'll notice I got in very early this morning. It's 00:29 so I'm off to bed, now the ads are at least not covering content.

I'll sort the user groups out in the next few days.

Thanks for your patience people 🙂 🙏

With my browsers (safari macos and iPad), ads are currently making the site virtually unusable. A few weeks ago, it started injecting 'vertical banners', i.e about 2cm wide and 10cm long into posts. In some cases, e.g. Lou's post above repeated several times. This tends to affects the first dozen or so posts on a forum. It seems to be slightly better when I am logged in but when not logged in it's difficult to see any actual posts.

I can't believe what I'm currently experiencing is what you intend. If, for some obscure reason, you are not seeing what I'm describing I can try to make a video that illustrates the point.

Morning Chuck!

It is not what we intend so apologies for that. Dan has been working on the ads for the past few weeks as Google have been making some big changes.

What you can see is not going to be the final version.

Thanks for sticking it out!

Happy New Week!

Anyone starting any new projects this week?

I think the boss @Dan needs to give me a days off. It effects mouse clicking too!!!!

Spending hours on phone trying to get HMRC to fix their wrong calculation and unwind all the incorrectly applied penalties. They are unbelievably bad.

Has anybody noticed that when you ask them why they haven't replied to a letter after more than 4 months they immediately (i.e. without even checking) say 'We have not received it, you need to send it again.' It was, however, delivered and signed for by their Newcastle 'address for couriers' and they are simply lying. Ask for their name and say you are going to submit a complaint and suddenly they can 'search the post system' and magically find that it was received but hasn't been looked at yet.

My blood pressure, which is normally a touch below 130/80 was more than 180/90 after the last conversation.

I'm collecting a list of 'tricks' that HMRC are currently using to rig their performance statistics, which I intend to pass on to my MP. A current favourite seems to be to start processing a claim and then dream up a idiotic/irrelevant question that they send via their outsourced (?) postal system and that takes a month to be printed and arrive. This tactic allows them to put the claim back at the end of the queue for processing and reset the clock on their performance figures.

Blinking government departments, they are all the same and so frustrating at the best of times! My BP going up just thinking about them.

At least its Friday, anyone got any plans this weekend?

Lurker here but thought I would join in the conversation.

Today I am going to change some bathroom taps for a customer I have had for years. He is elderly now and wants easier taps to use.

Easter wise heading to the coast on Thursday afternoon to try and beat the traffic for a few days RnR.

Thanks for this forum it is an invaluable resource! I am going to subscribe because the amount of times this forum has helped me out, I feel like I should pay it on.

Thanks for posting @brokenboiler and subscribing. Really helps to keep the forum online! how did your tap job go?

I would be spending my lunch break reading plumbersforums but the adverts have gone mad again here so it's 'The Golden Hour' on Radio Devon with my ham+cheese sandwiches instead today.

Hi everyone - How is everyone after the Easter Break?

I have a question, how many of you work away from home during the week? Do you stay in a hotel that is ok or a bit pants? Is it provided by the company?

BOOOOM

What you all working on next week lads and ladies?

(Saw a pink lady-plumbers van the other day but was driving so couldn't photograph it damn it!!)

Old listed building all copper all press. 3 zones, towel rail circuit, hot secondary balanced and cold main. 30 cast iron rads 3 cast baths and an external cast stack to fit. Chased 28mm plus lagging and passovers wasn't much fun, ended up taking out 60kg+ of screed and concrete for it. The job is a beast but it is certainly never a boring day there

At least it looks dry when the roof work was done, yesterday it would have been a nightmare

That is a lot of pipes in that old house, do you have to do things a certain way if it is a listed building?

How are you feeling today @SimonG ?

Unfortunately watched the football. First game in donkeys. We looked great for 30 minutes then went back to Southgate mode. Preferring the T20 world cup.

Been dotting about for last week and half after my chest infection ended up as pneumonia and a hospital stay for some iv antibiotics. Start full bathroom tomorrow, will be interesting.

Oh no I hope you are recovered now? Pneumonia is not nice at all.

I heard a rumour that the weather is meant to perk up over the next week or so, we might actually get a Summer after all!

Anyone see the shocking behaviour of Just Stop Oil last night?

I was really angry at them for spray painting Stonehenge! I think it is shocking behaviour, they should throw the book at those people!

I think they should be made to swap for someone who wants to be in the uk eg migrant etc
Oh I don't think I have heard that one before but I see where you are coming from!

I don't approve of those people who are trashing banks either!

Seems a nice day today, anyone got any plans this weekend?

Evening people. What you lot been up to?

I've merged the good morning and what you got on this week threads.

How are you guys getting on? Would you get more work or less work during school holidays?

Private work dies off because most people go on holidays / no spare money for projects etc but commercial eg schools pick up and it’s always a race to the end to cram in x amount in 6 weeks

I've got to take out a roll top, free standing, acrylic bath. Customer has requested I take the old bath away... what can I do with it? There's nothing wrong with it just too narrow to be practical, previous owners of the house had more style than practicality. Is it ever worth hanging on to things like this in an attempt to re-use or sell.
I don't usually do bathroom work, but this looks fairly easy..ha ha!

Not unless you have a lot of free time on your hands.

Don't forget that anything you get by selling it will be taxable income. (It was acquired and sold in the course of your business.)

Noticed this hasn’t been updated/ posted in a while so a bit of a photo dump from me

New system 19 rads boilers existing everything else new

Serviced yearly supposedly 😂 (filter),

Worcester camarey another one serviced yearly baffles stuck plus signs of spilling (new boiler time)
