Hi guys,

I have a problem with a 12yo Worcester 24CDi boiler & would be incredibly grateful if anyone can confirm the fault for me.

Last night while the boiler was off - no hot water running, no heating on & the timer is not set to run any program - the heating just fired up on it's own & was going full belt & wouldn't turn off using the timer or turning the heating dial down to Min, the only way to stop it was to turn off the power at the electric fused spur switch, but as soon as the power is turned back on the central heating fires up full again & wont stop.

As it wasn't running at the time am I right at guessing this could be the main PCB has gone, or is it be something else.

Many thanks in advance.

Tony.

It could be a few things. Save yourself time and money and get someone in who will sort it pretty quick im sure from what you describe

Just an update if anyone else ever has the same thing happen.

I was right, it was the main PCB, & yes I did get a GS engineer out, he is a mate of mine but was away on his hols for 2 weeks when my boiler through a wobbler which is why I asked on here. Anyway, he rang his supplier & they quoted a new PCB for a 24CDi at £205 + V.A.T (why is it anything to do with plumbing is always PLUS V.A.T?), so it was off to Ebay £30 with free p&p for a working one (they had BNIB for £105 as well) all sorted!

Hope this tread might help someone in the future, British Gas fitted 1000's of these 24CDi Worcester boilers for years so I can't possibly be the first person to ever have this fault, but couldn't find a mention of it anywhere on the internet.

Tony.
