Hi everyone,

As the title says I am after a new van. I am looking at either a Vauxhall Vivaro or a renault traffic. Does anyone on here use these vans and what are they like?

Alternativly if anyone on here fancies an upgrade or is selling there van (either of the above makes) please give me a pm!.....(not sure if im allowed to post this on here or not???)

Just for your info, Nissan Primastar is same as those two ;-) check out ebay lots for sale on there.
 
I'll never touch a land rover in my life again if I have to pay for it. Our one was 5 years old when I bought it and we kept it for 2½ years before we sold it. In that time it cost us £9,000. The previous one cost us about £5,000 in 2 years and was in the garage about once every 2-3 months. Both had nearly exactly the same problems as each other!

Land Cruiser is much better and MUCH more reliable and depreciation resistant than a land rover. We bought it at 5 years old and after 9 months it developed an expensive air conditioning fault. Repaired under warranty. No other faults on it in 18 months now. Only gripe is 28mpg and tyre wear.

Been absolutely brilliant in the snow and floods and can pull a transit up a 1 in 10 hill on sheet ice ... slips sideways a little, but she didn't worry at all. (Person I was towing didn't think of trying to help by "driving" the transit up the hill. Just sat there with her foot off all the pedals!!) Another time my wife slipped off the road into a ditch. She put it into reverse and out it popped!! Not a scratch!!!

I believe the owner of that car had a good compensation package. He left it there for weeks(?) and the dealers had to do something when it started to affect their trade. They tried using the law to move it but it was paid for, taxed and insured and parked legally!
 
The wifes 04 discovery coped ok in he snow, despite having a punctured suspension in the rear leaving it lop sided every morning. However the low ratio box combined with its little controlled decent button made driving a lot easier on the downhill ice to her horses, once wed read the instructions for the first time ever, lol, Id only ever driven landies with red and yeloow gear knobs before this one and didnt even know about traction control etc etc, but it does make icy roads a bit easier to drive on. Only pity is the idiots who think all the modern buttons etc mean you can still drive at 50mph on ice!!! they dont unerstand you cant stop still, especially the nice 10 plate range rover we saw on its roof in a ditch down this way, big smiles all round (pratt driver stood by it rubbing his saw head)
 
go for an ex BG van, serviced, surprisingly low mileage on most, racked out and cost a lot less than your one you mentioned for 3 yr old model
 
I'll look into that, That particular one is expensive but it's the maxi version that's a bit bigger which would be ideal for me. There's not so many of them around,they're rarer than a good Australian bowler!!🙂
 
I got a kangoo off a seller in wales ex BG, bit small, but BG now runs the mini transit van, bigger than a kangoo which would suit me more now. Cannt understand why the world in N devon all run vw vans as hey pay such a premium for them, good vans but sooooooooooooo overpriced

you make a valid point old plumb,the rackings worth a mint and very usable for our trade,but can get in the way if installing as well or dont you find this a issue
 
When I had company vehicles I had a vw caddy and a transit connect,both good vans but the vw was my favourite. It does come at a price though,you're right.I've had a citroen berlingo for 18 months and it's been really good,economical and reliable. I need something bigger now though.
 
Bartdude put your £ on transporter !!! extra room in the back good for install and service ,good drive economical engine to 🙂

make sure it comes from main dealer with warranty for peace of mind
 
I've a Vaviro on 07 plate, 16K miles and 3rd is a little 'grabby' already, clunky to get into sometimes. But rest is good, noisy at 80, wind getting in somewhere. Pulls away well, loads of room. If I was only plumbing I'd get a small car/van size and rack it out well. Only have large van as property developing too. Next will be a warrior!
 
you cannot beat VW if you are strapped for cash go for a hiace ,i would not recommend anything french

If I have to install boilers etc, I get them delivered by suppliers, saves on fuel and back strain!
