Hi,

My son have just moved into a 2 storey flat. The previous owner turned the water off and there has been a few days gap since he left. My son turned the water back on and find that although the flushing of the toilets on both floors work OK there is a dreadful noise as they refill. Is this likely just to be a temporary problem or something he can fix himself? I am not aware the previous owner had a similar problem. Any advice please?

probably the diagaphram washer needs changing do you know what valves they are,
are they ball valves?

Regrettably not. It seems now that having flushed them several times the noise is much less. Given we are talking about 3 toilets could they all have the same valve problem?

Once you have established whether the supply to the WWP is high pressure or low feed from a cistern, by fitting say Torbeck valves to replace existing will probable sort the noise problem. Good Luck
