What do you charge

May be a question you don't want answer, thats fair enough if so.

Im looking to take over running a company in swale area of kent that are gas safe registered, this will open me up to taking on gas work. At the moment they seem to be very cheap, but i may be over estimating what GSR engineers / companies charge.

Their average charge for a regular boiler straight swap is around £1100 - £1200 + vat, for a combi swap add around £100.

Regular system to a combi charges are £1500 - £1800 depending on complexity.

Dd these prices seem well under or fair?

Gas work is something i don't get involved in really, other than passing on the work so I'm not too clued up.

What do you mean by running the company ? buying them out ? or as a manager ? and if you don't get involved with gas how can you expect to run it ? Who holds the Gas registration ?

So what are you planning to charge? Im not trying to get information to undercut people, far from it, I want to increase their prices if it doesn't lead to over charging.

I can't speak for everyone but as an idea of what I'd be looking for..

combi to combi .. £1500-£1800 but I never fit tat.
standard to standard .. £1400-£1600
standard to combi .. £2250-£2600

all these depend on gas pipework, flue options, condense runs etc. and they're a rough guide.

This is only something that you can work out, and their is a fine line between being under or over priced, How well is the company doing now with its currant pricing ?? Do you know what is being charged in the area ?

Impossible to answer how much you should be charging without seeing the company accounts etc. Once you have them and know what overheads and staff wages etc you need to cover, only then can you work out what you should be charging. Why are the current owmers leaving or selling up? What has the profit been for the previous 3 years?
