Hi,
Been sorting out a new sink, while doing found a healthy leak hidden away. I really dont want to mess with the soil pipe (stack?) but noticed there is no seal on the female attachment socket where the sink waste pipe goes in. Assuming there is one usually?

Hence you can see I have silicon'ed and it has stopped leaking for now, like rubbing it on outside and pushing as much as I can up around the gap. Hardly permanent though I think

It was leaking when the toilet was flush or any upstairs stuff used (eww). It has leaked years before by look of it and I have put a nice new P trap on and sorted all the undersink leaking and now I find this.

Whats a good way to sort this out permanently? thanks for any help.

No, same pipe. The silicon to the left (with the rawl plug) is just to get some permanent rise in angle.
come across loads of Rubbish jobs around this house

Turnpin is right but I'd just use a straight coupling something like this, get over pipe flare by using some washing up liquid.

The soil pipe has a Marley stamp on the side that white pipe is not designed to push into it ideally you need to find a Marley stockist and get a new seal and a short of waste pipe and alter the set up ...best of luck regards Turnpin

Its the original pipe from when the house was built I think (40mm). Plenty of naff jobs done here though, like upstairs 15 to 22 to 15 around bathroom 🙁😵🙂

like this idea, thanks. Silicon is holding up, soon as fridge goes back in I wont be able to see it though. So bit on the fence whether to leave it and get on with rest of kitchen 🙁🙂
