Hi guys,

We have a newish build but at the moment our heating is set to come on once in the morning, once in evening. The problem is that it gets too hot in the morning and not warm enough in the evening. This is my current setup:

Ideally I think I want something digital which I can program different temperatures to trigger the heating on in the morning from the evening. I can't do this with a straight on/off analogue one which I have now. Things online like digital thermostats look like programmers - would I have to replace both things, just one? How do they work together?

I'm looking for recommendations and a bit of understanding how to achieve my aim here and also increasing my knowledge on how it would work (I get today it's basically if temp is lower than thermostat, heating on). But some things like Nest seem to do both so would I get rid of the programmer?

Thanks for reading.

Is the thermostat sited in a room that gets a lot of sun in the evening and little in the morning?

ok, that's blown that idea out the water, are there thermostats on the radiators in the room with the thermostat?

tbh it seems there is a problem with the siting of the stat, but without being there it's difficult to be sure. digtal, wireless, all singing and dancing wont make a difference if they are sited incorrectly imho

what differences can you think of between the morning and the evening? to me it suggests that the room with the stat is cold in the morning and doesn't reach temperature till afternoon/early evening

This is the layout of my house. I've marked the location of the thermostat.

I think the issue is more that we wake up and are warm anyway so when you're getting ready for work etc, it's just too hot whereas the evening is mostly sitting about.

Bit hard to see but it's in the downstairs hallway.
