I appreciate that this topic has been done many times, but possibly not in the recent past from viewing the forum history.
I'm in the market for a new analyser and wondered what people recommend as the best out there, balancing price, functions and usability.
I've tended to use Kane in the past, although have occasionally had use of a Testo. I'd probably lean towards the Kane, but should I look at the 457 rather than the 455? If i go for the 455, which inclusive kit do people tend to go for?

Appreciate feedback from you all

I used a testo for years but changed to a Kane 455, i love it 🙂.
/waits for Kris and his 2K testo 395 kit to appear 😉

We have used the Kane 455 for about six years good price good service price easy to use.we need to get another one and I did look at the 457 but will stick with the 455 as the extra features on the 457 I can not see me using them.

I had Anton which I really liked because of the ability to download the results onto the PC and print pdfs or store them. The calibration was really expensive last year(250 to replace CO and O2 sensors). It was quicker to start up than the Kane which goes through a 90 second purge every time you turn it on.

I then bought a second hand Kane because it had the CPA kit for not much money. Calibration was much better value and I've been happy so far. I haven't looked into it properly yet but it seems you need an extra cable or bluetooth to download the results onto the PC.

I am now going to buy a 457 new as it allows testing of CO2 ppm and my choice was to buy a separate Kane 100 and pay to get both calibrated every year along with the outlay for the Kane 100 or get a 457 and pay for one.

The 455 will be up for sale as soon as I get the 457 if you're interested. It was calibrated in November and is in pretty mint condition.

Thanks
Jon

I've always used Kane for near 20 years. Can't compare it to others. Don't know em but they're easy to use and pretty reliable.

Kane 455 for same reasons previously listed. 90 second purge can be a pain but if you are not actually analysing combustion then you can put it in manometer mode and skip the purge. Handy when you are using differential temp probes or pressure testing.

Got my Kane 455 back from calibration yesterday. For the fixed price calibration they continue the warranty for another year so I got a brand new charger and probe cone for no extra cost due to mine being worn. Happy days.

Started off with an anton but always unreliable and went stupid if recorded high co so after it wa stolen from the van i got a kane 455 and havent looked back far more reliable and stable and recovers nicely from high co readings.

we use a EiUK rasi 200 but we only work on biomass so needed one that did pellets and dry wood aswell as having NOx sensors built in. it has all the settings for gas, lpg, kerosine, heavy oil, fuel oil, baby oil, lots of oils!!!!
Cost arount £1700, not sure what the service charge is yet but its due.

miss plumb, 1700 is an expensive piece. Sounds like a good bit o kit. I'd say the service/calibration will be expensive. Wonder how long you'll be without it.

I keep looking at that one, looks a nice bit of kit.

Got the latest anton and the one before. Really annoying if it sucks up the water from the condense trap. It sucks it into the machine and messes it up. The new one is better for not doing it but have had it happen on both machines. Mine get used about 5 times a day and are still going okay at the moment

Kane 455 here... Has been great for a couple of years now and calibration is cheap and quick.
The only thing I have added is an additional inline filter between the probe and the unit as it spends a lot of its life stuck in Biomass and Oil boilers.
As an accessory from Kane it was a lot cheaper than a load of dust or other nasties getting into the cells.
