ive just been informed by the water board that the secerrtary of state has given them my drains and im going to be charged between 3 and 14 pounds a year for the priverlige my bet is it will be nearer 14
i realy cant understand how they can do this when i bought this house i bought a share in the common drains which link our terrace in 23 years its never needed any attention as my house was built in the days when the inspector rolled a wooden bal through to check the fall and condition
so now i have to subsidise the badly built places where the drains are in bad condition
it wouldnt be so bad if it was the water board as a national utility but they are now just another private company i suppose the next thing will be the energy minister giving everyones boilers to the gas board
obviously thames water will include a nice pamphlet in the next bill remind people that only they can clear blockages in the sewers in future emphasing its a free service
so they will get called out to every blockage first and then get the paying jobs that are not in there ownership

So what would happen if you contact the 'undertaker' and state you will remove your own sewerage??

i forgot to adthis will also probably mean anyone wanting to build over an existing sewer as many do for an extention will either have to pay a charge or may even mean you cant unless the work is carried out by the water companies contractors in the same way only the gas board can move a service pipe

Everyone in this country should learn from the Asians. They help each other in business. One guy got a 25 grand loan from another Asian to establish a launderette and another got 50 grand to open a takeaway. Imagine if one of our long established companys would help a smaller new one get established in that way?
Sadly many are too busy trying to shaft each other with the Thatcher mentality of the 80's of gimme, gimme, gimme, stuff you I'm not helping just want your cash to care about helping each others businesses. There is more than enough work to around if we do as the Asian guys do and help each other out!
When I get too busy, I think nothing of giving work, advice and help to others that need it, especially to the young guys just starting out. These young guys should be encouraged as they're doing something for themselves instead of sitting on the dole and without them this industry will die.

On topic, all they corporations, be it gas, electric, drainage etc. don't care about anything except making lots of profit.
