Hi Lads,

I am about to do another bathroom refurb. I just wanted to know what materials for walls you guys use to make them waterproof.

Does anyone use something like Marmox, werdi, bäckboard, or simply plasterboard ?

I would like to use something which is water resistant and easy to work with.

I also wanted to know are you us using the product for the whole bathroom or just for the shower / bath side ?

How thick ink should be the wall boards 12/15/18 mm?
Di I need some specific fixings or glue to put some wall boards together ?
Would you tank the area anyway even though the boards are water resistant?

Thank you very much indeed for your help

kind regards

ronny

sorry Brum, but is it wrong to ask what other engineers are using? Obviously everybody uses different materials and has different ways of doing a refurbishment. I guess it is not wrong to ask what other people use and how they install things.

I guess it's all about learning and helping isn't it? I can't see anything wrong with asking how other people do their bathroom refurbishments. You definitely cannot know all materials therefore I was asking what others use and how they do it.

It all very much depends to what standard the bathroom is being done and how much they want to spend.
There are 100,s of 1000,s of bathrooms done on std gyproc without any problems

True!

I just wanted to know what you guys prefer to use for walls either plasterboards or hardibacker boards ... you know how it is like basically youn advise them what to use ... therefore i thought to try something different and ask what other people use ...

Surely it depends also open the budget but I guess when you come up with the estimation or a quote they will surely talk to you if it's too expensive ... you still have a chance to change on materials to make things suitable for you and e customer.
