Went to one of these where completley sooted up with high yellow flames. Its now been cleaned out and burner inlet pressure is OK (10mb) but its still burning very yellow.
There is sufficient ventilation in the room. The cover to the adjustment screw on the gas valve is chiseled and marked as if its been adjusted loads in the past.
CO and CO2 readings are OK but its been left isolated as I know its not right. Anyone out there with more experience on older appliances got any suggestions?

Take the burner bar out and wash it out under the tap. Did you gas rate it? The main injector could be knackered.

also make sure the burner is fully and properly located where it should be, it is quite easy to put them back at a slight angle which gives you flame chilling as the flame hits the sides of the compartment

is it worth risking if it keeps sooting up and poor combustion i may sound like a thieving so and so but i would be thinking about ripping it out and sticking in a A rated boiler mayb save money in the long run and greener for mother earth i had a visit from the gas safe fella about a month ago and he said if its sooting up get rid of it but i guess its down to people pockets when all said and done

It's all well and good saying rip it out but people cant always afford it, just tell the customer both options and let them decide. Regarding the burner if you replace it you shouldnt get any more problems.

if its sooting up there is a reason for it,not everyone can afford a new combi, its our job to find out the reasons and sort them out

Make sure the burner and lint filter are clean. Wash them out. Check burner ports for any cracks. Repeat your statutory tests and all should be good.
