Spoke to my missus about it. It's all a bit awkward. Going to phone the one in Mansfield tomorrow and book 3 days in with him to get myself through the last of the portfolio. He's the guy that trained me at the centre I did my training at so he will teach me properly!

the important thing is you know the other guy is wrong/not up to scratch

Quick update - it was the main heat exchanger. There's a pinhole leak in there that's opening up when the boiler is running the CH. Condensate pipe kept dripping even 15 minutes after the boiler had been turned off. A corresponding pressure drop of 0.1 bar in that time on the CH circuit too, even allowing for the fact the system had heated up. Quoting for a new boiler tomorrow!

Ooh ok. Will offer that one up as an option then. Any idea roughly how much they are? Can give her the option when I chat to her tomorrow.

Eek not really worth doing then tbh. If it's corroded it's probably because the system is a mess so a powerflush would do it the world of good anyway. I think it's going to be best to quote for a new Ideal boiler for them then. Will give them the options.

If we do the swap I'm going to strip it all down though and grab a few photos of the inside of it. Will be good for my portfolio.

Thanks a lot!

Rip it out. I have the last one of my broags that I installed 7 years ago coming out next week.

On par with ariston and Chaffoturd, imho
