Make sure you buy the 50m roll of loctite! The smaller 10m rolls might not be enough for you...m

No offence mate but this is not rocket science
If you have tried all you said I'd be thinking its something faulty with tail or nut or olive get a new one

exactly...so why should I pay someone else to do it - its simply either been unlucky with the fitting of the valve or the nut/valve threading profile is iffy - hence I am on here asking for advice on which sealant to use, if that fails then its a new valve simple as - I reckon the sealant will do it though, ive fitted tons of compression fittings before and this is my 5th Rad install (well, 4 rads and 1 towel rail) and all before went smoothly with no problems - Iam getting lots of differing advice from other users and because I am trying to communicate with them all Iam getting the p1ss took out of me? - just when iam saying its nice and friendly on here too...

users gassafe & kyle - are going over-board, basically taking the p1ss at a friendly DIYer whos just trying to install some new rads in his home.. 🙁

I'm gonna buy shares in Loctite cord at this rate :1eye:

were just having a laugh, no offence!!!

Mate you've had all the advise and that's why ppl are getting frustrated.

Let me sum it all up nicely.
Make sure pipe is straight as Steve b suggests and make sure old olive isnt crunched on too much that's it's ruined pipe

Get some jointing compound. I use a fernox one that comes in a blue tin. Available in screwfix.
Put it on the olive only. Nothing on the threads of a comp joint. That's not how they work.

If it still leaks, replace valve.

No more advise needed surely

Yeah its all good fun no offence intended, we all hope you realise how a simple job has turned into the magna carter. Just read through the post and all the answers are there forget all the fancy stuff magic liquids and fantasy fitting its a simple job you are simply doing wrong.
