Hi, I am a newbie here so please bear with me. I have a close coupled cistern that needed to be removed due to a faulty flush valve. My problem is that I managed to strip everything down and replace the valve. I bought a new bracket and bolts and re-assembled. The problem that I have is that the down pipe from the cistern drops into a 90 degree plastic piece that has two screws that screw into the pan. When trying to get the unit back together last night I managed to push through the plastic insert that the screw goes into in the back of the pan. I am in London at work right now so can't get to a a DIY shop. Is this a common fitting, if so can I get the insert from the likes of B and Q. Any help appreciated

a picture would have helped but it sounds like a twyfords pan with the plastic adapter to close coupled
you should be able to get a rubber squeeze type cavity fixing from one of the diy shedsyou might get away with a toggle i cant recal how much room there is inside the pan

I hate those fittings. On some of the twofold pans if I remember right it might drop out of the bottom if you lift it up.

Thanks for the replies. I went to B and Q and the guy looked at me as if I was an alien but fair enough, looking at their stock I assume its not something they are asked for everyday. Having thought about it I went back at the problem and pulled out the plastic fitting and was able to get to the grommet I re-inserted it but its a pretty stupid fitting. I think I need two new ones as on tightening they just seemed to be pulling out again under the weight of the cistern. Anyway we now have a flushing toilet again with no leaks. Thanks for all the input its been very useful

B&Q is bad enough but asking a B&Q staff member for help is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard!
