PTFE on olives is naff Supper. I generally just tighten them up dry if it's a new fitting, little smear of paste round the olive if it's an old fitting or is weeping slightly. Job done. A lot quicker than PTFE.

PTFE is for threads, not olives.

Loctite 55 is very good stuff though, again for threads not olives

Its not a bad principle to follow but I think there are 2x brass type threads as well -I suppose
when i meet up with our oldest fitter (Friday) i will ask centralheatking

I was once told never use chrome nuts on brass fittings or vice versa, any truth in this people or is it something to do with brass / copper olives and chrome fittings, not talking about chrome pipe here just good old fashioned copper pipe.

Some of your comments on here dude... Like wtf?! Ptfe on olives are DIY...never had a leak with jet blue plus (jointing compound) use it on EVERYTHING...heating, hot and cold circuits and gas
