Does anyone know what the actual regs for concealed flues on fan flued boilers requires?

Correct me if im wrong but............................

I was under the impression that all of the flue joint had to be visible ie both sides of the join to confirm that it was still attached properly and not leaking, damaged etc.

So what would happen if you can only see one section of the flue on one side of the join but not the other? In my mind that would be ncs and ar in the near future and should not be installed that way.

So today I have started fitting a Baxi solo he (cant remember the exact model) and when the flue elbow on the top of the boiler is fitted on, the joining face is level with the wall. Which means when the terminal is fitted you will only be able to see the elbow and none of the flue terminal section if that makes sense?
If you imagine when the wall is sealed to the flue you would not be able to tell if the elbow and terminal are joined or not.
Is this right? I am not entirely sure it is to be honest.

Any thoughts and opinions are gratefully received

Know what you mean, fitted a Solo this week but its not as if the flue is in a void and cant be inspected thoroughly, if push comes to shove you could always scrape a little motar away to confirm the flue is in the socket. Thats my take on it anyway.

i asked gas safe inspector that question. my installation was a two foot wall then strapped and plaster boarded. this in my mind is a void. horizontal terminal and flue extension, obviously the join was behind the stud. his answer was ... its fine. which is a get out of jail card as what other way can this be done, other than flues terminals being made longer. so a void then, is a purpose made box to hide flue or in eaves. i get the flues in voids reg but try making your customers put holes in walls, where possibly recently had expensive tiles or alternative fitted.

I am surprised that the manufacturers make the flues this way with the current regs.Especially when there are quite a few ways around the issue.
In some cases, as above, a longer terminal would make life much easier! I have come across a false wall a few times and have made 2 halfmoon removable sections and a slightly larger flue hole so the joins can be seen. Its not the prettiest way to do it but made me happy!
I was going to do what Ian10261 says when I do the flue. I dont think its going to be the nicest looking but what else can you do.
