Hi peeps,
Some little toe rag tried to steal all my gear from my little Astra van last night. They smashed the drivers door window to gain entry but due to the fact that I have got into the habit of turning the key twice whilst locking the van at night, the deadlocks were activated so they were unable to gain proper entry. They were reduced to having to try to climb in the smashed window over the broken glass. As far as I can see nothing is missing but that would not have been the story if it were not for the deadlocks.
If there is anybody else out there with a similar van then always make sure you double lock it. My only cost looks to be £95 for my excess and a couple of cut fingers whilst trying to get the broken glass from the seat runners. It could have been a heck of a lot more.

p.s. I've got a new job around the house. Got a driveway to build!

This forum drives me mad!
why is there no option to delete your own threads as with me being a bit of a numpty, I always seem to mess up trying to post things.

You can only edit.
Im always making errors due to using a smart phone which puts what it thinks im trying to say with predictions text lol.

I just edit and delete the rubbish

Good to hear they never got anything, another reason to fit aftermarket dead locks and make sure you,ve got a cage/bulkhead if they know you leave tools in the van they'll be back,

I called the local police 101 number at 8 this morning. They told me that nobody would come to have a look but that local plod would call me back. It's now 12 hours later and not a peep from them.

I had that when my garage was cleared out, quick email to the local rag, another reader started stirring and 6 weeks later the story carried on with the superintendent of the local nick apologizing for poor policing, another letter from me to the paper and he wrote to apologise to me personally, I felt better then, for 2 minutes 🙂

I had something similar a while ago. Without boring you with the details, we had a situation where they could have cleared up a string of hundreds of frauds if they could just supply one plain-clothes DC, at a time of their choosing. Apparently it needed to be signed off by a Superintendent, and none were available for a WEEK!

I kicked up a stink and eventually a deputy chief constable spent the best part of a day dealing with the fallout. I made the point that 30 seconds of a superintendant's time would have saved him a day, and (whisper it quietly) probably have solved a whole shedload of crimes.

i had around 2 grands worth of tools stolen from my van on monday, police gave me a crime number and said thats all they can do. total of 7-8 vans and cars got done and no police.............. to busy catching those criminals doing 35 in a 30 im guessing.

If you rang up and said you've caught someone robbing your tools and you've beat the out of them and tied them up they'd be round before you'd put the phone down to arrest you
