Hi

i'm going to have a hole in the wall gas fire fitted into my chimney breast. I'm going to get it fitted by a gas safe engineer but I'm preparing the opening etc myself. I've got a brick built chimney which is fine for this fire and the mortar lined flue has a gather.

The fire also comes with a metal gather but as my chimney flue goes off to the left i won't have room to fit up inside the additional 450mm in height the metal gather would require without major building works. Does anyone know if an additional metal gather that came with the fire normally has to be fitted if the chimney already has one built into it?

I've had the (brand new) fire (fire royale 600) in the garage for 2-3 years and just getting round to getting it fitted and in that time it looks like the firm who makes it (winter Browne) has disappeared so I can't ask them for help, so any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Roly

your technician will have to refer to the manufacturers instructions and take it from there.

It does say to fit the gather hood in the instructions so then I guess I do, it was only that reading the instructions on a lot of other similar sfires it says it's optional. Its only that the gather hood is huge and I'll have to get another fire if that's the case. Thanks for the advice.
