Just take two meter readings over a time period and calculate e.g. Take a meter reading fire appliance for 2 mins then a second reading and multiply the difference by 30. That will give you the gas consumption over 1 hour in m3

If you have an imperial meter youll have to crack your books out

so property has boiler and cooker. both on full rate for 2 mins taking first reading at meter and last and multiply difference by 30. which will then convert

That will give you the comsumption yes

The easiest way would be to add up all the kw ratings of your appliances and divide by 10.76

What is the purpose of all this?

i have to move a gas meter 200mm. and the gas owner wants me to calculate the load to make sure the meter and extra pipework will surfice. ( load of time wastin on my part. unneccesary as this will not effect the job) straight pipewotk too no fittings. cheers simon

Just do a working pressure test at the appliances. If it's within 1mb of working at the meter it conforms

And as long as you havent got over 64kw of appliances on a u6 meter your well within the design limits of the meter

i have my met 1 mate

aye but have you got written permission from the supplier, cause none of us ever move a meter while doing a kitchen refurb without getting permission,
PS if you need fittings to go BES, the 3 fittings below are what you need, make sure you support the pipe between the ecv and the new meter inlet
meter adaptor
BSP T x BS746
3/4" x 3/4" PART NO: 0181 (£1.62) page 31

BS746 female x capilliary
3/4" x 22mm PART NO: 0244 (£3.54) page 31
washer for above PART NO: 8720 (£0.11) PAGE 31

COMPRESSION x BSP T
22mm x 3/4" PART NO: 7371 (£2.60) page 148

also if you want a quick check on gas flow required, multiply max HI of appliance(s) by 0.094 to give load in m3
eg 24kw boiler and 6kw hob, 24+6x0.094= 2.82m3/hr where the pipe splits to both appliances,

hi kirk its boiler kw rating was evident. but the gas cooker wasnt, what is the kw for most 4 ring and gas oven cookers. plus pipework in question was 21mtrs. thanks
