How much to charge to replace gas run?

Hi guys,

how much do you guys charge to change a gas run?

need to install 22mm for 15metres all under floorboards. Probably take a full day with a labourer

It's not that. The area that I work in there are too many people who will get the cowboys in to sort it out. I went to a job yesterday the guy paid £100 to move a ideal isar boiler and the gas pipe was undersized and they used a cold water isolation valve to isolate the gas. It all comes down the area that you work in.

You are correct but direct jobs are rare currently in my area due to contract work only being fro short periods.

Hi mate, where are you based. You will get cowboys charging silly prices doesn't mean you have to lower your price to match theirs, there must be a reason they are charging such a low price, unqualified, haven't got their own cert, cash only etc...

I know what you mean. But sometimes you have to look at the safety aspects if the house goes up in flames it's not just him that's it's affected it's the entire neighbour hood.

No mate, its a ideal logic 30he combi. My pipe sizing table says it will be fine on 15metres

That is so not true! My area is considered one of the poorest around, low seasonal wages etc, but if you decide to undercharge youll get lots of crud work, however if your prices are correct for the skills you offer youll still get work, not the rubbish jobs and youll end up with a decent reputation, you may do less work, but youll bring in more, and you will watch the idiots coming and going as they fail to make a living in the long term. Dont end up like the idiots, charge a decent rate, you will get work.

pm ray for his hourly rates for last year by area, youll be surprised.

I live in bradford west yorkshire and i charge a lot more than that but then again i dont entertain cheapskates. Its been said so many times if you chase low paying work thats all you will get in a quick race to the bottom.

if thats your total run with fittings inculded and its only that one appliance you should be fine.

I will be putting down the first 6 meter run in 28mm pipework. You have to consider future usage, especially as the pipework is going to be ''out of sight''.

Only if the customer is happy to pay for it which if you give them an option they more than likely choose not too. I dont believe future proofing is a requirement in the regs yet. The extra cost could cost you the job
