How to reseal entry point into drain pipe

Last November I had a cctv drain survey & one of the access points they used was the waste pipe from the toilet which runs down through my kitchen. The entry point is near the bottom of the pipe as per the attached photo. Its now leaking from the bottom of this entry point & the guy who did the survey quite obviously doesn't want to come out & re-seal it. It appears to just have tape around it. Would it be a matter of just replacing the waterproof tape or is there a better way to seal it? Many thanks

Hi Caroline, without there being any screws or nuts on display I will hazard a guess that it is a tight push in, lever out fitting with a big rubber O-ring making the seal.

If I`m right then you could try prying it out and washing the rubber seal and surrounding areas with warm soapy water to clean it all then pushing the cap back in however this is an educated guess. Others may advise using a sealant around the O-ring when it goes back together.

Oh, just make sure nobody sends any water down whilst you have the cap off !😱

Was the issue that caused the need for the survey resolved?

If not then the cast pipe may be blocked and releasing the inspection cover could get interesting..

There should be 2 bolts holding the cover on and a rubber gasket behind it.

As above it may just need removing and cleaning and resealing;

Snowhead, you raise a good point about it could be interesting, hadn`t thought about that 😱 and I tried zooming in on the picture and couldn`t see anything like bolts which I did expect to be there.
