Ever since I was an apprentice I have always said to myself if I ever get like the bloke who trained me I would change careers. He was good at his job but miserable as sin. Me on the other hand am worse my reasons being

I am expecting my 2nd complaint on monday morning. I was working late on an oil boiler that I recommended was serviced but the landlord saw better, So after I fitted the part it was running like a piece of poo so I wasnt in the best of moods the phone rang I accidently answered the phone thinking it was a mate stuck on a job and it was a person I really didnt want to speak to, He asked a couple of questions I answered nice and politely but it was about a knackered 3 year old vokera fitted to an ancient system and the plate was blocked solid and pump dead and a leak under the floor so a couple of install lads repiped the down stairs rads. When they tried to fire it up they couldnt get the RF programmable stat to relink with the reciever My answer was to link it out so the new tennants moving in the next day could use heating (They were not moving in for another week but the tit of a landlord lied to us) so everything was working when we finished report left to replace the cheap programmable stat with a better 1 (Not that any RF stats are really reliable) So after a few questions he tuned round and said

"Any competent engineer would know what to do" I did give the stupid tight arsed landlord warning by saying " I am out of work hours and having a bad day so I would be carefull what you say ( I know not the right thing to say but hind sight is brilliant) any way he said again "Any competent engineer would know what to do" I replied by ranting down the phone to him for about 2-3 minutes about him being tight and fitting cheap carp and other things along that line and he even stayed on the phone all through that and apoligised for upsetting me but said he would phone the office on monday.

And now every time I see a post on here from somebody who has a problem with there boiler I just think for flip (Stronger word used) sake just pay somebody to sort it.

Anyway rant over I feel a bit better now.

Don't worry milsy you don't need to take cheap comments like that from anyone. Sometimes it's hard to bite your lip especially when you've had a bad day!

It didnt help I was meant to pick my son up at 6 and he phoned at 6.05 luckily enough my mum had him for a bit.

Glad I'm not the only one

I've had a bit of a mare in last few weeks and have told a few customers to go forth and multiply , thankfully a few members from the forum have helped me out , but boy did I feel good telling them what to go do

I think we all get like that after a while, I think about changing career on a daily basis. But can't think of anything with the same degree of independence and money.iff you find a new career let me know, I'll come and re train with you and copy you in the exams.

Well the email came in today and not a word about me. I had already told the boss to expect a complaint he just laughed and called me a tit for answering the phone to him.

Your boss sounds like a decent bloke, I'll bet he's not on this forum.

Yeah he's a good bloke been through it all himself as he spent 20 years on the tools. I doubt he's on the forum too busy counting his piles of money.
