Hello to everyone this is my first post, im new to the industry did a new entrants course and finally got gas safe registered in march and i have found out the hard way that this is not the best way into this industry but with a family to support i cant afford to be an apprentice, ive got a few friends in the industry but dont want to be bothering them all the time so looking for all the help i can get.

I have a customer with ideal classic lxff 250 which is overheating with banging pipe work and venting in f+e tank then overheat stat kicking in, i was asked to service boiler sort out problem. i started by servicing the boiler found that the burner pressure was 18mb instead of maximum 13.5 have corrected this but this did not resolve the problem. then checked thermistor is operating properly it is.

Next i checked the pump the impeller was partially blocked and rusty cleaned and replaced but the problem persists. The water in the f+e tank is the colour of rust and the pipe work near the pump is weakly magnetic (a magnet will not stick to the copper pipe but there is an attraction). The system obvously needs flushing but is there anything else i should be looking for as i dont want to spend a day flushing only to still have the problem at the end of the day.

Many thanks
Philip

Get your post count up send your gsr details over to gasman or redsaw and ask the question in the private gas forum providing you pass the questions to get in

This plumbing forum will not provide advice to anybody with regards to boiler repairs or any other form of gas plumbing without you first providing us with your Gas Safe Registration number in a thread - for very obvious reasons. If you're not qualified to touch gas, you should stay well clear of trying to!

Ps welcome to the forum
