inset gas hob safety cert acceptance

If you were to buy a new inset gas hob with the burners and found that the safety devices were Not implicated eg: turn on the gas hob and gas doesn't shut down. Well personally it's highly dangerous.
My question is.

I dont fully understand your terminology, but if it's new i'd consult the manufacturer and then follow unsafe sits if a safety device is found to be defective

If you're asking whether it's OK to fit a new hob with no FSDs, then no. I can't remember when the reg came in, but all new jobs from a certain date must have FSDs.

If there are FSDs and they don't work, it's ID.

Are you fitting gas hobs? That's naughty if you're not GSR..

Yes. Did you see the pics attached. Yes was purchased by someone and no fed. It's a turn gas knob and freeflow... check the MIs and there was nothing. It must have been made before the BS came into place p. Not sure what year. But it's the 26/9 and BS6172 I think.
No it ws my mate whose doing the gas hob and I'm stuck with this potterton combi GOLD HE. Surely needs pump. And can't wait to get into the gas forum..loads to sort out.

Yes. Brilliant. Thanks for the estimate there. Must say I was well aware of this. I'll keep and show to the client on Monday. They'd bought it from eBay £30 and I was trying to explain the one on amazon £45.Zannussi Which I'd recognised from doing my portfolio work.

Notified the Tennant today and told it has to be removed as it's not acceptable to current standards. It was agreed that the cooker be installed was not a problem, but no responsibility of the gas engineers as the appliance was bought new by you the user but to the "old standard and no FSD" which would be as not to NCS but ID.
Anyway I'm happy it wasn't me doing the job as for going through all the tasks of fitting the appliance and finding it comes to putting someone's life in danger.

1) FSDs are only mantory for flats etc (HMO's). is this job in such a place? if not then you don't NEED a FSD appliance

2) You cannot pass any responsibility to the purchaser of an appliance, If it is wrong, you don't fit it . Simples.

It's okay and going to have it changed and agreed. Not that I ain't seen a new modern cooker without an FSD. But wouldn't personally have it in any kitchen vicinity especially when there were children around mate. Thanks

You can still buy cookers, hobs etc without FSDs.

Its not illegal for a retailer to sell one that doesn't have a safety device, not all manufacturers make them with thermocouples on.

You can still fit one that doesn't have the safety devices in a house.

It's only in flats, etc that have to have them.
