Alright guys. Sorry if this has been discussed before. Just wondered how you lot go about insulating plastic fittings? Obviously you have lagging for the pipe, but then that does not fit around the fitting, which being the bit most likely to split when frozen, needs to be well insulated, right!

I've been wrapping them with a load of hairfelt then taping them up. This doesn't look the best tho. Anyone have a better way?

I know I'm gonna get a lot or 'copper is better' or 'use compression fittings instead of plastic ones' 😉

Cheeeeers

Glad to see someone who's lagging them properly, for a change, rather than assuming plastic doesn't need it!

I think your current system sounds good - presumably the looks aren't too important as the plastic pipe / fittings are out of sight (at least where it's likely to freeze)?

Yea, I've heard loads of people say plastic doesn't need lagging. The 2 or 3 call outs for split fittings I had last year beg to differ!

Okay thanks. I thought it was the only way of doing it and yes never plastic on show. Just the hair felt way can be a bit time consuming. You would have thought they would have invented a pre formed bit of lagging for plastic. Maybe one day!

Thanks for your reply 🙂
