Internal compression reducers

Hey I have a 22mm prv that is also suitable for 15mm if you remove the 22mm olive and insert the provided compression internal reducer to take it down to 15mm. Are this compression internal reducers any good? Have never used then before. But will do away with coming out in 22mm a endfeed socket then a endfeed reducer down to 15mm.

tighten it down till it breaks and another 1/4 turn if its one unit, nice and tight if its already in bits

I always gunk them up cos there's more than one place they seal ( the olive intothe reducer then the reducer part itself into the valve )..Good though.

I like 8 - 10mm ones other than that use fitting .

Its a one piece one, so you say tighten till it breaks then 1/4 turn. Guess there isn't much you can do if you ever had a small weep on one of these. I.e with an olive you can put paste on it on put ptfe around it

Some are but theres still two jointing surfaces. trick with those is tighten up then loosen off and then put some liquid ptfe or whatever on.

On the threads then yes. No reason why you cant crack the nut and tape as you would an olive when redoing the joint if it weeps.

I'd never seen the one part reducers until recently. Always got the 3 part reducing sets. Carry loads of 15/10 and 15/8 sets on the van they work a treat.

You get a pair each of the 15/10 & 15/8 one piece brass reducers with some TRVs.
I don't use them, (as I prefer to use soldered reducers if possible) & am gathering a few together that I have lying about.
I would tighten them to compress it all & then slacken it all back & paste & retighten.

On rad valves using 10mm plastic any tips on making sure the olive doesn't slip? It is tightening up great but i have had one slip out of the fitting. Is there any milage in packing the olive or liquid PTFE?
Note: the reducer set is sound on the TRV side.

Used them once to reduce from 15mm to 12mm, it split and caused £30k+ worth of damage, never again
