Hay guys, i have a interview tomorrow with recruit2oz they are looking a load of plumbers over in christchurch new zealand! Any guys on here any experience working over there? Rate of pay was posted as 30 dollars/hr but im sure once you get ur nose in the door you could add at least another 10 onto that! i hear its mostly gas around that area, combi boiler ect! I thought our plumbing qualification here in the uk wasnt reconignised over there, if that is the case then they would they be adversiting for plumbers on the job centre in northen ireland here where im from! so basically just looking any advice on sort of money i should be expecting and working conditions if any1 has done any work around christchurch! also if any1 knows if this crowd sets you up with accomadation and flight ect and do they pay for them? any other trades out there that would be interested in sharing accomadation! Cheers 🙂

reading what the guys over there post on here is that you have to spend 2 years as a trainee operator befor you get a plumbing licence/?
one had reported he works in a fish and chip shop to make ends meet.

looked into it my self and passed the visa stuff but put off by the barriers the industry put up!!.

do you have your gas?

I was thinking of taking the baby and missus to Canada or NZ. Will read that with interest.

canada is now my best choice despite the snow.lol

got an uncle there and he says come over and i will be up and running within a week!!

what do you mean the barriers the industry but up? surely if recruit2oz have these jobs up saying all you need is your nvq level 123 and your starting wage is 30 dollars/hr even if u havnt got a plumbing licence who cares im sure you would be able to work away anyway? Do you need a plumbing licence to do plumbing work?

no i dont have my gas! here a link for the job Job Details

You will need a provisional license to start with, which means you have to work supervised and then go to college / tafe to get your aus/nz quals updated before you can get a full license. Then if you want to start up on your own then your'e back to college/tafe for a contractors course before you can get your contractors license.
