Jealous much?

Did a job today for a customer who turns out to be the dad of a lad I went to school with.
It was changing a kitchen sink/taps, sticking an outside tap on and fitting a surestop and every bit of it was a pain in the backside. (one of those days)
Anyway there i am cleaning up after finishing, full of ****, sore and bleeding from 2 nice stainless steel cuts when the customer mentions that Dave (the lad I went to school with) just sold his business for £5.6 million and has retired to a barn conversion next door to Kevin Davies house (the Bolton footballer).
Then he goes on to tell me that his other son who I used to hang about with is semi retired as he has delegated most of the work he used to do onto other staff at the steeplejack firm he owns.
Then (yes there's more) he tells me that his daughter (who I used to totally fancy) has lived in Monaco for the last 10 years with her Pilot husband...

Dave and his brother are the same age as me 40/41 and they were both thick as two planks at school.

To say i was jealous is an understatement, I thought us plumbers were supposed to be the rich ones???

Too much good luck for one family there for me mate. I'd take it with a pinch of salt. I can smell bull 5hit 🙂

Good point, but I just googled Dave and it rings true, his dad said the company he sold was called 'clean air' and he sold it to a much larger company.
I also knew his sister had moved to France, but didn't know it was Monaco - with a Pilot!...
Grrrr...

Lets be realistic, she is probably absolutely beautiful, filthy rich, the best sexual partner anyone has ever had & you missed out! But, there is a silver lining in all of this.

5.6 million? Probably sits at home wondering if he could have got more, well 6 million would have been a nicer figure 🙂

Semi retired eh? Bet his golf handicap has gone to amateur status from all the worrying about how the staff could be ripping him off 🙂

To be fair, I've had a few shandies now and the green eyed monster has gone to sleep.
Dave deserves it, he was a thoroughly nice chap when I knew him, his sister was a darling back in the day but she knew it and used to have lads jumping through hoops for her. So I'm no longer bothered.
His brother was a bit of a dick when he was in his late teens/early 20's. Used to fly off the handle at the littlest thing. Maybe his dad didn't mention the maybe 3 heart attacks that probably lead to his semi-retirement? 😉
I'm a lot better off than some poor bstards, you only have to look at the news each day to realise you're not actually doing too bad...
His dad was telling me how Dave made his money, Dave heard how much it cost to have science classrooms made safe with the air extraction and sensors etc. in schools/colleges/universities, so his idea was to provide a semi-mobile version that could be hired at a fraction of the cost.
His first client was Aberistwyth Uni and after 6 months he was ready to give up as no-one else seemed to be biting, but then the offers started rolling in, after a few years the company that generally builds the permanent rooms/systems for these places got wind of it and made offer after offer to buy him out until eventually they agreed on 5.6 million. The company Dave had wasn't worth anywhere near that but the threat to the other company was worth the offer for them just to cull the competition.
Bloody good luck to him I say.
(note the complete turnaround in about 5 hours? Beer's a great calmer isn't it😛arty🙂
